Meet Our Founding Director

Dr. Saleh, the Founding Director of IDQC, is a globally recognized authority in Civil Engineering with a distinguished career spanning decades of academic achievement, pioneering research, and hands-on professional practice. Currently a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury, Dr. Saleh earned his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1999. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a licensed professional Civil Engineer in California and Arizona.

Dr. Saleh’s vast experience includes serving on prestigious committees, such as the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committees on Pavement Condition and Evaluation (AKP10), Binders for Flexible Pavement (AKM20), and previously in Rigid Pavement Design. He is also an active member of leading professional organizations, including the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Engineering New Zealand (Chartered Member), and Engineers Australia.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Saleh worked as a Transportation Engineer with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in the Major Maintenance Division, where he contributed to significant highway projects. Additionally, he has provided consultancy services to the Department of Transport and Main Roads and several international firms, offering expert insights into structural design evaluations and advanced materials characterization.

Dr. Saleh’s expertise encompasses pavement material characterization, pavement design and analysis, road asset management, and geometric highway design. His research and consultancy work have had a profound impact nationally and internationally, culminating in groundbreaking innovations and a registered patent recognized in the USA (US10883906B2), the EU (EP3479095B1), and other jurisdictions, including the Netherlands, France, and Germany.
